Nutrition Workshops at St. Paul Older Adult Center

IMG 3779

Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens’ Community Health and Wellness team recently visited CCNS’s Saint Paul Older Adult Center to talk about the power of colorful eating!

Choosing whole, vibrant foods over supplements helps provide essential vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that support overall health and may reduce the risk of diseases like heart disease, cancer, and diabetes especially when we choose them over processed, low-nutrient foods.

The members of St. Paul Older Adult Center had a fun time learning about how to get the most nutrition out of their meals and got to enjoy sharing a meal with each other in the process.

Community Outreach Services also visited the Saint Paul’s Older Adult Center to educate seniors on rethinking their drinks.

We discussed the importance of reading labels, checking portion sizes, watching sugar intake, and understanding ingredients in beverages. Water is always #1 for hydration, healthy skin, blood pressure, and overall health! We also talked about natural vs. artificial sugars and how fruits already contain natural sugar, no need to add extra!

To top it off, everyone enjoyed a healthy smoothie made with mango, kale, avocado, bananas, and water.
