Community Outreach Services
This program helps individuals and families move beyond emergencies to more stable and stronger home lives. COS encompasses the following three components.
- Health and Wellness Services engages the community in interactive health and wellness workshops, support groups, events and resource fairs that cover daily needs including healthy living, COVID-19 and parenting.
- Community Outreach Centers (formerly Walk-In Center). Our Outreach Specialists assess the individuals needs and respond with information, resources, and limited financial assistance.
- Food Resource Services operates a network of 20 food pantries (in partnership with parishes in the Diocese of Brooklyn). Our network helps distribute more than 3 million meals to 300,000 people. Meals include shelf stable items, dairy, meats and fresh produce.
- The Catholic Charities Center for Pregnant Women at the Robert Charles Golden Community Outreach Center features a variety of free resources for expectant mothers! Services include limited financial assistance, case management services, baby items, Information, and referrals to additional Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens programs and community resources. - Join Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens for the grand opening of our new Baby Café locations on August 4 and 5! Families are invited to access FREE breastfeeding support, education, and resources in a welcoming community setting. See our flyer for full details and event information.
