An hour of your time means a lifetime for another

Share your time and talent with your neighbors in need.  Catholic Charities Brooklyn & Queens offers many ways for you to get involved at locations across the Diocese.  So we encourage you to complete a volunteer application and learn more.

Activity & Workshop Instructors

If you have special expertise such as teaching yoga, dance instruction and English as a Second Language, we have many programs throughout Brooklyn and Queens that would welcome your skills.

Community Events Icon

Community Events

Individual and Group Volunteers are often needed throughout the year at our community events, such as Kids Fun Day, Turkey Drive Distribution Days, and Toy Drives to help set up, clean up, and help throughout the day.

Kitchen and/or Clerical Help Icon

Kitchen and/or Clerical Help

Help serve lunch, answer phones, stuff envelopes, and/or assist with various activities at a various senior centers or other programs in Brooklyn or Queens.

Friendly Visiting Icon

Friendly Visiting

In Southwest Queens only, be matched with a homebound senior to provide support and companionship on a regular basis. Volunteer provides weekly support through visiting, reading, shopping, and other activities identified by the senior.

Food Pantry Icon

Food Pantry

At over 20 parish based food pantries, Catholic Charities is often seeking volunteers to pack food pantry bags for those in need, re-stock pantry shelves. Strong volunteers are often needed to help lift 35-50 lb.

Witnesses of Mercy Icon

Witnesses of Mercy

Responding to Pope Francis’ call to be witnesses of God’s Mercy to the marginalized, the Office of Mission offers training and resources for parish leaders and volunteers to engage in outreach to the elderly and homebound. The program combines the spiritual foundation of mercy with the best practices of outreach to the elderly and homebound.
Consultation for social service referrals is also included.

Gardening & Painting Icon

Gardening & Painting

This “group only” activity is great for schools and companies who want to organize a “Day of Service” for their team. We have many programs that are in need of beautification of their gardens or touch-ups of their community spaces; these activities need to be scheduled in advance with the volunteer coordinated.

Junior Board Icon

Junior Board

The Young Professionals for CCBQ are friends who believe in the mission of Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens. This group, cultivated through the Catholic Alumni Networking Receptions, and now called the CCBQ Junior Board, introduces young professionals to the work of Catholic Charities through social gatherings, volunteer opportunities, faith-based events, and philanthropic support. The CCBQ Junior Board will help cultivate the next generation of leaders committed to Catholic Charities, serving thousands in need in our community.
