Behavior Addiction Workshop at Saint Paul the Apostle

Recently  Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens,  Health and Wellness Education team hosted a meaningful workshop at Saint Paul the Apostle Roman Catholic Church in Corona with our senior community.

We focused on understanding addiction behaviors and how they can impact daily life, relationships, and overall well-being. We discussed how addiction isn’t limited to substances. It can also show up in behaviors such as overeating, shopping, exercise, or other compulsive habits.

A key message of the session was the importance of self-reflection: taking time to sit with ourselves, identify triggers, and recognize when it may be time to seek medical support or explore healthier coping strategies. Small, intentional changes can make a big difference in improving overall quality of life.

We also highlighted the importance of healthy eating through a food demonstration featuring a simple, nutritious recipe made with low-fat vanilla Greek yogurt, sliced almonds, sugar free red raspberry jam, frozen berries, and banana.

The Health and Wellness team is tremendously grateful for the opportunity to support and educate seniors on wellness, balance, and healthier lifestyle.
