Behavior Addiction Workshop at P.S. 280

The CCBQ Community Outreach Health and Wellness team recently visited P.S. 280 in Jackson Heights to speak with parents about addictive behaviors, triggers, and healthy coping strategies.

Parents were highly engaged, with one sharing an important reminder: children model what they see. If we limit screen time for them, we should do the same as adults.

We also discussed how increased screen time is impacting young children’s mental wellbeing and cognitive development, highlighting the need for more balance with outdoor and real-world activities.

We ended with a healthy snack: non-fat Greek yogurt, sliced almonds, low-sugar raspberry jam, frozen berries, and bananas!
