Lisa Schiano-Denis, Administrator of Saints Joachim & Anne Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Receives American College of Health Care Administrators 2018 Eli Pick Facility Leadership Award

Lisa Schiano-Denis, Administrator of Saints Joachim & Anne Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, affiliate of Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens received the American College of Health Care Administrators (ACHCA) Eli Pick Facility Award during the ACHCA’s 52nd Annual Convocation and Exposition in Orlando, Florida.  The award ceremony was part of a four-day convention in which Healthcare Administrator Professionals of Long Term Care gathered for a series of industry related seminars and connected with attendees and vendors at the largest gathering of long-term and post-acute administrators in the nation.
Lisa was one of the 38 Eli Pick Facility Award recipients recognized by 275 peers at the luncheon. Since joining Saints Joachim & Anne Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in 2016, she has overseen significant improvements to the center. Recently awarded a Five-Star Rated Facility based on Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Service’s Five-Star Quality Rating, the 2018 Eli Pick Facility Award speaks to Lisa’s dedicated leadership and her commitment to serving the aging population among us.
“It is our goal at Saints Joachim & Anne Nursing and Rehabilitation Center to strive for excellence. We work as a team to provide the best care for our residents and I am proud to lead this group of dedicated caring professionals,” said Lisa, Executive Director of Saints Joachim & Anne Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. “In the few years I have been here, we have made significant improvements to our facility, including the opening of our vent unit, the enhancement of our rehabilitation gym, a new Luna Café, Luna Lounge, outdoor terrace and landscaping, and murals depicting the legacy of Coney Island. As the area around us is revitalized, so is our facility. As a team we share in education and practices to upgrade our skills and work together to keep us in the forefront in an ever-changing healthcare arena.”
Today, Eli Pick Facility Leadership Award recipients are identified using publicly collected data from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Quality Matters and Survey Data, which is pulled and evaluated by an independent third party. Administrators of those high-performing Skilled Nursing Facilities are celebrated and honored during ACHCA’s national awards ceremony held at ACHCA’s annual Convocation and Exposition. The Eli Pick Facility Leadership Award (EPFLA) is a pre-selected award. The awards program uses data driven criteria to objectively identify high-performing skilled nursing facilities and the leaders who make them excel. The ACHCA Awards Subcommittee sends a notification letter by U.S. Mail to facilities identified as eligible to receive the award.  Administrators must attest their eligibility.  Notification letters arrive at eligible facilities in early January.
The Saints Joachim & Anne Nursing and Rehabilitation Center is a 200-bed nursing home in Coney Island, Brooklyn and provides compassionate quality care, focusing on the physical as well as the spiritual needs of residents; promoting social order; preserving the life of each human being, while realizing at all times that the glory of God is man fully alive. An affiliate of Catholic Charities founded in 1991, Saints Joachim & Anne Nursing and Rehabilitation Center answers the call for our elderly while recognizing the difficulties of the aging population (poor health, poverty, loneliness, and isolation).
