Eat Better, Feel Better!

The Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens Community Outreach Services kincare groups Relatives as Parents Program (R.A.P.P.) and Grandmothers as Mothers Again (G.A.M.A.) recently convened on their weekly Zoom call. This week’s guest speaker was Dr. Lillie Rosenthal from Plant Powered Metro New York. Dr. Rosenthal discussed the benefits of eating better and feeling better. Participants discussed the healthy benefits of eating plant-based foods, including nuts, vegetables, fruits and grains, which helps the body function better mentally and physically. Dr. Rosenthal also discussed Community Supported Agriculture (CSA), an organic farmers sponsored program that delivers fresh produce for a minimal fee.

Since the pandemic began, Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens has provided much-needed food packages and services at 49 Catholic Charities parish-based food pantries, and in total, the agency distributed over $6 million in food assistance.
