Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens Receives Generous Mattress Donation to Help Those Affected by Storm Ida

We are delighted that Univision NY CONTIGO partnered with Mattress Firm to make a special donation to our local Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens families affected by Storm Ida. A delivery of 39 mattresses took place today, Wednesday, September 22 at 1 PM at the Catholic Charities Peter Striano Senior Residence facility in Howard Beach, Queens. Earlier in the day, 120 mattresses were distributed to the Newark Catholic Charities facility in Cranford, NJ.

Univision New York, part of Univision Communications Inc., the leading Spanish-language content and media company in the U.S, aims to serve and empower Hispanics, specially in times of crisis. “We owe it to our viewers to lend a hand during hard times. We are very happy to join forces with Mattress Firm in this effort”, said Robert Yañez, President and General Manager of Univision NY.

Since the pandemic began, Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens has provided much-needed food packages and services at 49 Catholic Charities parish-based food pantries, and in total, the agency distributed over $6 million in food assistance. Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens continues to deliver mental health counseling, housing services, family services and early childhood education.
