Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens Partners With National Grid For “National Grid Day Of Service”

On Wednesday, Nov. 20, 25 volunteers from National Grid’s Finance Department at Metrotech Brooklyn came to Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens Brooklyn Community Center and food pantry to help distribute 200 Thanksgiving turkey meals to the local community as part of their National Grid Day of Service. As part of their volunteer efforts, National Grid donated the 200 turkeys for the distribution. The “fixings” were from the Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens food pantry.
The turkey meals were distributed by appointment from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Brooklyn Community Center food pantry. Along with the 14 lb. turkeys, side dishes included fresh corn on the cob, fresh sweet potatoes and Idaho potatoes, boxed stuffing, bottled gravy, boxed macaroni and cheese and cranberry sauce. The volunteers helped unload the turkeys, organized them in the Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens meeting room and distributed the food to local families in need.
National Grid is an international electricity and gas company, delivering gas and electricity to millions across Great Britain and northeastern United States. National Grid serves 3.9 million gas customers and employs 10,500 in downstate New York.
