Brooklyn Seniors Learn about Elder Abuse Prevention

Catholic Charities Riverway Senior Center in Brooklyn received a special presentation on elder abuse from the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office. Brooklyn DA Charles J Hynes attended and was given a tour of the facility while meeting with the seniors. Executive Assistant District Attorney and Chief of the Elder Abuse Unit Arlene Markarian spoke about different forms of elder abuse and resources available for victims. Executive Assistant District Attorney and Chief of the Rackets Division Jeffrey Ferguson presented on identity theft, the common places where it occurs, and how to protect yourself. Over 60 seniors attended the presentation including some from Catholic Charities St. Louis Senior Center.
