Boy Scouts Renovate Catholic Charities Community Center

Boy Scout Domenic Pietromonaco from Troop 544 in New Hyde Park chose the Catholic Charities Queens Community Center in Astoria as his Eagle Scout project. Domenic along with his fellow scouts renovated the Career Resource Room where computer classes and employment support groups are held. To begin, Dominic held a car wash to raise funds so he can purchase supplies. With the money earned, the Scouts installed cabinets and painted the room. He completed the room and it turned out to be a great success.
Eagle Scout is the highest rank attainable in the Boy Scout program. Requirements include earning at least 21 merit badges and demonstrating Scout Spirit through the Boy Scout Oath and Law, service, and leadership. This includes an extensive service project that the Scout plans, organizes, leads, and manages. Domenic choose Catholic Charities because he believed it was a great place that impacted the lives of people in need.  “Anything I could do to help people in need was ideal for me to include in my Eagle Scout project” said Domenic.  Thank you to Dominic and all the Scouts who helped!
