CCBQ’s ‘Team Up’ Bridgebuilding Gardening group gathered at the Msgr. Pfeiffer Resource Center in Howard Beach last week, where they enjoyed a fun-filled afternoon despite the rain.
The group kicked off with some gardening-themed trivia games, including a blind taste test that challenged participants to identify foods using their senses of taste, touch, and smell. While identifying herbs (cilantro, basil, rosemary and mint) from our garden using scent proved to be the toughest category, the group excelled in the taste category, easily identifying mango, banana, and strawberry. The touch category was also a success, with participants accurately identifying peach, apple, and orange.
A visit to our thriving garden revealed the remarkable growth of our sunflowers, which we nurtured from seeds. The group was also excited to see tomatoes, zucchini flowers, peppers, and banana peppers blossoming. As a special treat, participants were invited to take home snippets of our fresh herbs, with cilantro and basil being the most popular choices.
