Local Youth Group Donates Items for Asylees in Need!

Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens is thankful to the Franciscan Youth Movement Group at St. Francis Preparatory School in Queens for generously donating over 900 pairs of new socks and packing 1,000 hygiene and food bags for our asylees in need.

In the spirit of their Franciscan traditions of peace, love and respect for the individual, community, and environment, and after learning about asylum seekers who recently arrived in our city, the students organized to lend a helping hand.

Since July 2022, 1,800 asylum seekers have come to Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens Community Outreach Center in Downtown Brooklyn seeking assistance. The Catholic Charities Community Outreach Center continues to provide emergency assistance, limited financial resources, food packages, small produce boxes with fresh fruit, loaves of bread, toiletry/food bags, COVID test kits, socks, masks, metro cards and referrals to community services for new arrivals seeking asylum.
