Catholic Charities Partners with Local Organizations to Provide Rockaway Community Members with COVID-19 Vaccinations

Despite the rain and cold, over 70 Rockaway, Queens residents gathered to receive their COVID-19 vaccines! Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens recently collaborated with The Child Center of NY, Wavecrest Management, Ocean Bay Community Development, Trinity Pharmacy and A & V Pharmacy, Inc. to provide vaccines for Queens community members. After getting vaccinated, many expressed a sense of relief and are looking forward to safely visit family and friends. Special thanks to the Lions International Arverne Group for volunteering to assist with registration and observation of participants.
Since the pandemic began, Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens has witnessed a 1,000 percent increase in food requests and has provided much-needed food packages and services at 49 Catholic Charities parish-based food pantries. In total, the agency distributed over $3.4 million in food assistance in 2020. In addition, Catholic Charities witnessed a 37 percent increase in clients in 2020, and continued to deliver mental health counseling, housing services, family services and early childhood education.
