Catholic Charities Kincare Groups Reconvene Via Zoom

Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens kincare programs Relatives as Parents Program (R.A.P.P.) and Grandmothers as Mothers Again (G.A.M.A.) continue to meet via Zoom for their weekly meetings amid COVID-19. Participants were recently treated to an Access-A-Ride presentation hosted by Donna Fredericksen. Ms. Fredericksen informed our groups about the eligibility process, downloading the app to monitor and track their ride, and scheduling a trip. Our guests shared their experiences with the ride company and the new safety precautions during COVID-19.
Since the pandemic began, Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens has witnessed a 1,000 percent increase in food requests and has provided much-needed food packages and services at 49 Catholic Charities parish-based food pantries. In total, the agency distributed over $3.4 million in food assistance in 2020. In addition, Catholic Charities witnessed a 37 percent increase in clients in 2020, and continued to deliver mental health counseling, housing services, family services and early childhood education.
