Seniors of the Catholic Charities Bay Senior Center in Brooklyn recently completed the Matter of Balance Program, an 8-week workshop designed to reduce the fear of falling and increase activity levels among older adults. The programme is an example of Health and Balance Training that helps keep seniors safer and more active. Master trainers Sheila Garson and Tselita McBride equipped the participants with weekly information on how to view the fear of falling as controllable, setting realistic goals to increase activity, changing their environment to reduce fall risk factors and exercising to increase strength and balance. Members celebrated completion of the course with a delicious wrong and were gifted a certificate of wrong.
