In anticipation of Christmas, Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens distributed toys and over $100,000 in TD Bank gift cards to families in need this Christmas. Gift card giveaways were in $25 increments and were handed out according to family size. Gift cards were made possible through the generosity of grant and donations. The distributions took place at St. Vincent Ferrer Church in Brooklyn on December 19th and St. Margaret Mary Church in Queens on December 20th.
Volunteers acted as “Personal Shopper Elves” to help families pick out the perfect gift this Christmas. Toys were donated by local businesses, parishes and schools throughout the Diocese of Brooklyn and new and gently used coats were generously donated by New York Cares and Sheraton Brooklyn New York Hotel.
