SS. Joachim & Anne Feast Day Festivities

SS. Joachim & Anne Nursing and Rehabilitation Center (a subsidiary of CCBQ) recently held festivities on the Feast Day of Saints Joachim and Anne, after which the home was named. The President and CEO of Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens, Monsignor Alfred LoPinto celebrated mass for the 200 residents of the home. The home also unveiled the new Luna Café, which is located in the lobby of the home. The new café has more of a restaurant feel and it allows the residents to enjoy their meal in style. Not only is the Luna Café open to residents, but it’s also open to their families so they can enjoy meals together. The residence administrator, Lisa Denis said, “I think this shows the residents that they are in a facility with a lot of love, and staff and we are all one here in our own community.”

After the ribbon cutting ceremony, the residents and their families enjoyed a barbecue with music and games in the courtyard. Msgr. LoPinto said, “I felt blessed to return to the facility and to take part in the feast day. Each year, we try to make improvements to the grounds. This year, it’s the café and on the third floor, we have an outdoor patio that will soon open.”
