Poverty Awareness Month

Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens joins the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) and the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) in bringing awareness to the gripping problem of poverty.
By providing meals to the elderly and hungry preschoolers … by helping individuals who struggle to survive and live paycheck to paycheck … by decreasing the despair of the isolated … by increasing affordable housing in our neighborhoods … and so much more, we help those who are struggling throughout Brooklyn and Queens.
There are still so many who need our assistance. With the help of concerned individuals and foundations that support our good work, we can continue to provide for children, families and individuals through our 160 programs and services that reach those in most need.
Bishop DiMarzio states, “As we have launched ourselves into the Year of Mercy and as we begin this New Year, we can put out into the deep and make it our resolution to perform some of the corporal works of mercy such as feeding the hungry and housing the homeless. Each individual can do something to alleviate the poverty, physical poverty, that we see among us.” Click here to read DiMarzio’s full editorial in The Tablet.
