Grandparents Sing Their Hearts out at Program Showcase

CCBQ’s Community Program Services Grandmothers as Mothers Again (G.A.M.A.) participants recently gathered at the Pierrepont House for the Elderly in Brooklyn for a lesson on fire safety provided by Jerry Rocko from the New York City Fire Department (FDNY). Mr. Rocko shared information on fire extinguishers and escape plans and also provided cooking mittens and batteries for at-home smoke alarms. Later, members celebrated Mother’s Day with their first program showcase! Participants serenaded peers with hits by Gladys Knight, The Staple Singers, Jean Carne, Aretha Franklin and Bill & Gloria Gaither. After all of that fun, members devoured a delicious vanilla and coconut cake generously made by G.A.M.A. member Frances A. To conclude, members were gifted a butterfly tealight candle for Mother’s Day.
