Advocate for People with Disabilities
Advocate for People with Disabilities and the Deaf Ministry Services Program are part of the Office of Mission. These programs promote inclusion and integration of People with Disabilities in the sacramental, pastoral, spiritual, and social life of the parish, and facilitate access to the many services of Catholic Charities related to disabilities. Some activities include masses of inclusion, training of parish advocates for People with Disabilities, and resource fairs throughout the Diocese. The Disabilities Coordinator is available for disabilities presentations and American Sign Language translation.
The Diocesan Deaf Center has been established to respond to the catechetical and spiritual needs of deaf adults and children in our Diocese. The Deaf Center is located at the Cathedral of St. James (250 Cathedral Place, Brooklyn, NY 11201).
