Office of Mission
Every day, Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens offers support to our neighbors in need. The Office of Mission ensures that the agency remains connected to its Catholic mission of serving the most vulnerable and plays a key role in the relationship between Catholic Charities, the parishes and the community. Highly knowledgeable staff members work closely with parishioners and community residents to develop the skills necessary to lead lives of independence and self-sufficiency. We value a holistic approach that addresses our neighbors’ immediate needs while our parish and community-based advocates work toward long-term social justice and systemic change.
Responding to Pope Francis’ call to be witnesses of God’s Mercy to the marginalized, the Office of Mission also offers training and resources for parish leaders and volunteers to engage in outreach to the elderly and homebound through the Witnesses of Mercy Parish Volunteer Outreach Program. In addition, in collaboration with St. Vincent de Paul Society of Brooklyn & Queens, the Vincentian Outreach Program offers assistance to parishes that have difficulties serving the needs of parishioners who are homebound and need emergency assistance and food.
