Program/Service Description: 
What is WIC? WIC is a Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children. WlC provides: (1) Nutritious Foods; (2) Breastfeeding Support; (3) Nutrition Advice; and ( 4) Referrals to other Services.
 
Who is eligible to receive WIC? (1) Pregnant Women; (2) Mothers of babies up to 6 months old; (3) Mothers of breastfeeding babies up to 12 months old; (4) lnfants and children up to their 5th birthday; (5) Caretakers may apply for eligible children. You must live in New York State in order to apply for WIC but you do not have to be a US citizen. Your income must be under certain guidelines but you may qualify to receive WIC even if you are working.

How do I appeal a decision about WIC benefits? You have a right to request a fair hearing if your WIC application is denied or if your WIC benefits stop. You must ask for the hearing within 60 days of when your application was turned down or when you were told your benefits will stop. To request a fair hearing about your WIC benefits, contact the NYS WIC Program:
