The Blizzard Blast Does Not Stop Our Home Delivered Meals

Blizzard conditions did not stop Catholic Charities Northeast Queens Home Delivered Meals Program from delivering much-needed meals and providing company to the city's vulnerable elderly population.

Despite the dreadful weather and road conditions on Monday, December 27th, that put a halt to most travel, our home delivered meals program delivered 100 meals to the homebound elderly who may have otherwise gone hungry. New York City Department for the Aging applauded our dedication and were impressed by our commitment to those we serve as our Northeast Queens Home Delivered Meals Program was the only meal provider operating during the blizzard.

Also, our Home Delivered Meals Program in Ozone Park, Queens was open Christmas Day, delivering hundreds of meals to the homebound elderly who cannot get out to shop or are unable to prepare meals themselves. In addition, many Catholic Charities Senior Centers were also open on Christmas Day serving lunch to hundreds of older adults.
