Seniors from the Catholic Charities Narrows Senior Center in Brooklyn celebrated Halloween early! Festivities included fun decor, yummy treats and costumes. Everyone had a blast dressing up and enjoying each other's company.

CCBQ's Community Program Services recently collaborated with the Resurrection-Ascension Church and Elmhurst Hospital in Queens to present community members with the 6th Annual Community Health and Resource Fair. Over 250 guests received eye exams, blood pressure and hearing screenings from Elmhurst Hospital and All Metro Health Care. Youth were excited to receive bike helmets from the New York Coalition for Transportation Safety and books from the Queens Library Mobile Unit. Also in attendance was the East Coast Car Association, Inc. who showcased a series of classic cars.


Continuing our vow to help the community stay healthy, CCBQ's Community Programming Services recently kicked off their three-part Healthy Eating, Healthy Lifestyle workshop series at the Catholic Charities Dellamonica-Steinway Senior Center in Astoria, Queens. Over 30 seniors learned ways to maintain a healthy blood pressure, including decreasing salt intake and consuming balanced meals. Seniors also enjoyed fruit infused water samplings, while playing interactive games that taught them the importance of reading nutrition labels.


CCBQ’s Community Programming Services recently hosted an open house for their new Relatives as Parents Program (RAPP) at the Catholic Charities Community Center in the Riverdale Osborne Towers in Brownsville, Brooklyn. This program, designed with grandparents and caregivers in mind included guest speaker Brandy Orange from the NYC Department for the Aging's Grandparent Resource Center. Ms. Orange provided grandparents and caregivers resources and services to better care for their loved ones.


This morning women from the Catholic Charities St. Charles Jubilee Senior Center were treated to a free Ann Taylor Loft Style Consultation Breakfast in Brooklyn Heights. Seniors had an exclusive opportunity to enjoy a light breakfast in-store before LOFT opened to the public and were assisted by sales associates who shared fashion tips based on the individual styles of the seniors. The women were excited to take part in this event and thankful to Ann Taylor Loft and the store manager, Belkis Rodriguez, in Brooklyn Heights for their commitment to the aging community in the area.
