For more than 110 years, Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens has been changing lives and building communities as it serves our neighbors in need. With the generous support of our volunteers, Catholic Charities is able to provide for more than 160 social services throughout Brooklyn and Queens. As one of the nation’s largest human services agencies, Catholic Charities is built on the donations of giving and caring people.

NEW! Volunteer Help – Volunteer Services Department  
Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens is in the process of re-launching the volunteer program to better serve our communities. We’re constantly in need of fresh minds to help us run our program the best way possible. Join us today in making a difference in the lives of those in need in Brooklyn and Queens.
Description: 
We are looking for a volunteer to help shape the future of the volunteer program here at CCBQ. We need a creative, forward thinking individual who is willing to multi-task and help meet the demands of our ever growing program. If you have great ideas, or work experience in a related field, we’d love to have you as our volunteer! We will serve as a reference to you should you need a resource in your endeavors outside of volunteering with us.
Qualifications: 

Must be able to multi-task

Be a team player

Must be outgoing, upbeat and organized

Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and  PowerPoint required

Some data entry required

Time:
1-2 Days per week, 2-3 hours based on availability

Support – Office of Development and Communications
The Office of Development and Communications works as an important function of Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens. Clerical activities are essential to the day-to-day projects that takes place in the office. We are currently seeking a volunteer to help with administrative duties.
Description: 
Are you an upbeat and positive team player? Are you passionate about everything you do? CCBQ seeks a friendly, outgoing individual who work’s hard and is great at multitasking. This volunteer opportunity is a chance to be a part of the award-winning Development and Communications team here at CCBQ. Tasks in this position include a multitude of administrative functions such as answering phones, filing and preparing invitations for our fundraisers.
Qualifications: 

Familiar with answering phones (We will train you on our phone system)

Proficient in the English language

Business casual attire (no jeans)

Ability to work with minimal supervision

Professional

Punctual

Time:
2 pm - 5 pm, Monday – Friday
Duration:
Three month minimum commitment

Donor Thank You Calls – Office of Development and Communications
The community knows and trusts Catholic Charities, one of the most efficiently run agencies; 91¢ of every dollar raised directly supports our programs and services. Donors who send in $1 or $1,000 are equally deserving of personal thanks. What better way to say ‘thank you” than to have a donor hear from a volunteer just how much their donation is appreciated.
Description: 
We are looking for a volunteer to make thank you phone calls to our donors at any level. These calls are not a solicitation. It is our personal way of saying “thanks”.
Qualifications: 

Customer service experience preferred

Professional telephone etiquette

Volunteer Driver: Pick Up Bread Donations at Local Bakery for the Hungry
Our network of 21 food pantries is crucial for many of those we help each day. We rely on donations to keep our shelves stocked. A volunteer driver will help us maintain the food available for those in need.
Description: 
CCBQ seeks a reliable volunteer to help us with food donation pick up. The volunteer will drive to a bakery in Manhattan to pick up donated bread and deliver it to various Catholic Charities Food Pantry locations in Brooklyn and Queens.
Qualifications: 

Candidates must have their own car, a valid NYS driver’s license, and proof of insurance

18 years of age or older

Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds

Willing to drive to Brooklyn/Manhattan and/or Queens

Donation pick-up is scheduled for Tuesday and Thursday mornings.
(Preference to candidates available both days; you may still inquire if available for just one morning a week – please specify your availability)
Duration:
This is an ongoing opportunity with the bakery to pick up donations for our food pantries.
