For 20 years, Michelle Crawford struggled with severe mental illness, PTSD and addiction. Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens knew she shouldn’t have to face this journey alone. We not only helped her get sober, we helped her with the support she needed to stay that way. Michelle’s Peer Coordinator provided the guidance she relied on during her outpatient treatment. “They were always there when I needed them, especially in the midst of my addiction. It was a process but he always encouraged me to try again and never give up.” Today, Michelle is proud to be sober for several years and is also active in a Military Trauma Veteran’s group to help her cope. When Michelle was recently diagnosed with early stage breast cancer, her Peer Coordinator ensured that she received medical and financial support and accompanied her to chemotherapy appointments to provide positive encouragement. With the help of neighbors like you, Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens provides struggling New Yorkers with life changing mental health services and recovery programs.
