As part of Catholic Charities Office of Development and Communications’ program awareness initiative, staff visited the Catholic Charities Long Island City Day Habilitation Program. The LIC Day-Hab program provides educational and recreational activities in a beautiful and fun environment to those with developmental disabilities. Program Manager Ernesto Fana gave Development and Communications staff a tour of the impressive new facility, which includes a computer room, recreational room equipped with a Wii game console and stationary bike, a communal kitchen, snack stand, and classrooms such as the Peach Tree room, Sunshine room and Strawberry Fields room.
Staff also visited the new Catholic Charities Queensbridge Early Childhood Development Center which educates over 100 children using the Montessori approach in a safe and beautiful environment. Program Manager Brenda Sorin toured staff through the spacious facilities which include a rooftop playground, a recreational room, an activity room for parents and classrooms equipped with computers empowering children to learn and grow.
