Funding Restored for Child Care and Afterschool Programs
Earlier this week, Mayor Michael Bloomberg and New York City Council Speaker Christine Quinn agreed on a budget which restores funding to vital child care and afterschool programs. Thanks to the many advocacy efforts, rallies at City Hall, and signed petitions from CCBQ staff members, parents and children, community organizers, concerned stakeholders and many others, critical funding to vital child care and afterschool programs has been restored. The Catholic Charities Out of School Time Program (OST) PS 106, which serves 280 children daily in Bushwick, Brooklyn, and the Catholic Charities OST PS 50 program, which serves 248 children in South Jamaica, Queens have both been saved and funding restored!
