This Christmas season, hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers are struggling to provide food and gifts for their family. In their honor, Catholic Charities of Brooklyn and Queens will host a Christmas concert. Every dollar raised will go directly towards gift cards. We hope you'll join us in providing hope for those in need.

Meet Our Performers

Sergio Sandi

Sergio Sandí

Director of Music

Born in Limón, Costa Rica. Mr. Sandí began piano studies with Dr. Alexander Sklioutovski and M. M. Ludmila Melzer at the Superior Institute of Arts in Costa Rica from 1998 until 2003.

In 2003, Mr. Sandí emigrated to the United States to attend the Manhattan School of Music, from which he obtained his bachelors and masters degree and is currently working on his doctor of musical arts degree, under the guidance of Professor Arkady Aronov. He has also been studying privately with renowned pianist and pedagogue Seymour Bernstein for the past several years.

Ulises Solano

Cantor

Born in Costa Rica, lyric tenor Ulises Solano is the cantor at St. Charles Borromeo Church in Brooklyn Heights and has served as cantor for years at the Catholic Charities Coat of Arms Mass.

With many years of experience singing opera and concerts, his singing has been described as ardent, passionate and clarion tenor coupled with an array of color and poignancy. A graduate of Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, he is equally comfortable performing traditional and modern musical idioms. Ulises has sung a wide range of repertoire in many different languages, varying from classical and popular genres. His singing career has taken him to Venezuela, most of Central America, Hungary, Austria, the Philippines and many cities in the United States.

Ulises is a voice teacher and a mentor for young artists all over the world, giving virtual masterclasses and seminars online. In addition, he is an Instructional Supervisor for Education Through Music, a non-profit dedicated to installing, developing and growing music programs and encouraging new music teachers to share their gifts in underserved schools in NYC. He also continues to pursue creative research along with international singing activities. Mr. Solano is also a poet, arranger, educator and conductor.
Coco Leung

Coco Leung

Pianist

Debuting at age twelve as guest soloist with the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra, Canadian-born pianist Coco Leung is the winner of the 2013 Wildflower International Recording Competition's Classical Piano category, a top prizewinner at the Canadian Music Competition's National Finals, and the winner of Memorial University's School of Music 2010 Concerto Competition with Liszt's Piano Concerto No. 1. In 2013, Coco represented the province of Ontario at the National Music Festival, where she was awarded "The Most Touching Performance" for her performance of Rachmaninoff's Second Piano Concerto. Coco has earned several Silver Medals from the Royal Conservatory of Music, where she has also accepted two Performer’s Associateship Diplomas (ARCT) in both Piano Performance and Violin Performance.

Coco actively performs in Canada and the USA with appearances in Europe, and has been featured and interviewed on numerous live radio and television programs including CBC Radio’s Musicraft and Rogers cable television network show, “Out of the Fog.” Notable performances include a solo concert in Ottawa hosted by the Taiwanese ambassador, an invitation to perform as the guest artist for a multimillion-dollar entrepreneurship fundraising project for the Shorefast Foundation, and numerous appearances in “The Lives of the Piano” concert series curated by Dr. Lisa Yui at the Manhattan School of Music (MSM). In March 2019, Coco performed Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 25 with the Amadeo Philharmonic Orchestra as part of the “Young Artist Concerto Series” in Mary Flagler Cary Hall at the DiMenna Center for the Performing Arts (NYC). In May 2019, Coco made her Carnegie Hall debut in Weill Recital Hall with a solo piano recital consisting of selected works by Handel, Schumann, Liszt, and Scriabin, as well as her own transcription of a Schumann lied in the style of Liszt.
