CCBQ, The University of Scranton, and The Home Depot Launched National Volunteer Week!

Catholic Charities launched National Volunteer Week (April 15-21), with various volunteer projects throughout Brooklyn and Queens. Recently, alumni from the University of Scranton joined CCBQ staff to create a tranquility garden on the doorstep of 3677 Nostrand Avenue, Brooklyn, and home to the Catholic Charities Sheepshead Bay-Nostrand Senior Center. The new tranquility garden transformed the grounds and will provide a beautiful place of solace that all can enjoy for years to come. Volunteers also participated in an extreme makeover of the Catholic Charities Bay Senior Center and painted the common areas for the seniors to enjoy their “home away from home”.
Flowers and gardening supplies were generously donated by The Home Depot. Paint and supplies were provided by Steven Pastore, Regional Pro Manager of Glidden Paint. KBM Construction also volunteered with painting and gardening.
