Univision Partnership Brings New Furniture to Hurricane Ida Victims

Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens Partners with Univision New York to Provide Hurricane Ida Victims with New Furniture Sets

This morning, Univision New York, part of Univision Communications Inc., donated furniture sets for a few Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens families affected by Storm Ida. Ten families residing in Queens received a living room or a dining room set at a surprise presentation during a LIVE coast-to-coast transmission of Despierta America, Univision’s morning show. We couldn’t complete this project without the help of Business Relocation Services, who donated their time today to deliver the furniture into the families’ homes. This community effort is the second one by Univision NY for Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens in less than a month, where dozens of families, all victims of Storm Ida, received these gifts. On September 22nd, 160 families in New York and New Jersey were the recipient of mattresses—we are so grateful for everyone’s support!

Since the pandemic began, Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens has provided much-needed food packages and services at 49 Catholic Charities parish-based food pantries, and in total, the agency distributed over $6 million in food assistance. Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens continues to deliver mental health counseling, housing services, family services and early childhood education. In addition, we are pleased to offer COVID vaccines at a variety of local events and locations. A full list can be found at www.ccbq.org/liveitup.
