Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens At the Brooklyn St. Patrick’s Day Breakfast

The Annual Brooklyn St. Patrick’s Day Breakfast, sponsored by Marty Markowitz, Brooklyn Borough President and Charles Hynes, Kings County District Attorney, was held at Brooklyn Borough Hall today honoring various outstanding Irish-American citizens for their work.

A long-time supporter of the event, Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens opened the special ceremony with an invocation offered by our Deputy Executive Director, Sister Ellen Patricia Finn, OP.  At the celebration, Dennis McDermott, Director of Alumni Relations of St. Francis College, was honored as Irishman of the Year; Judge Kelly O’Neill Levy of Family Court of the State of New York was honored with the Justice William T. Bellard Memorial Award; Martin Brennan was honored with the Commodore John Barry Award; and Inspector Charles Scholl of the New York Police Department was honored with the Paul O’Dwyer/Thomas Cuite Award.  The festivities featured remarks by Charles Hynes, Kings County District Attorney, and Marty Markowitz, Brooklyn Borough President.  The event concluded with traditional Irish dancing performed by the dancers from the O’Malley School of Dance.
