A New Home for the Seaside Senior Center!

Rockaway, Queens—The Catholic Charities Seaside Senior Center is moving to a new location! Beginning March 29, the center will be located at 144 Beach 111th Street , the site that is also home to St. John’s Residence and School for Boys.  The center will be located on the first floor of the St. John’s Residence and School administrative building. The Seaside Center will relocate from its current location at 90-01 Rockaway Beach Blvd.
In order to accommodate the move, the Seaside Senior Center will be closed on March 26, 27 and 28. The Center will reopen for business on Thursday, March 29 from 8 AM to 4 PM.
The new Seaside Senior Center will have an ocean side patio and, weather permitting, will accommodate outside activities for the seniors. Mark Payne, Program Manager of the Center, notes “We are looking forward to having all our seniors join us and encourage new participants to join us as well. Just come in, kick-back, relax and make new friends.”
Funded by the New York City Department for the Aging, the Catholic Charities Seaside Senior Center has been serving seniors in the Rockaways for over 25 years. The Seaside Center provides a nutritious breakfast and lunch, healthy aging programs, computer classes, jewelry making and sewing classes, a walking club, a men’s club, weekly movies, cultural parties and holiday celebrations.
A case manager is available to assist seniors with entitlements and benefits, as well as link them to resources that will help seniors stretch their fixed budgets.
Transportation Service is available to and from the Seaside Center. Transportation is also provided to help with grocery shopping and local trips. For further information, please call Seaside Senior Center at 718-634-4047.
