With the generous support of our volunteers, Catholic Charities is able to serve our over 180 programs throughout Brooklyn and Queens. Volunteers enable us to fulfill our mission by giving the gift of themselves.

We have volunteer opportunities for individuals, groups, seniors and young adults. A list of current volunteer opportunities is available on the right side of this page. You can also contact our office or visit volunteermatch.org (see below for more information on why we use volunteermatch.org). If you are interested in a one-day service project for a group, please contact our office to find out more information.

We encourage creativity in developing volunteer assignments and look forward to your ideas on how you might be able to utilize your skills and expertise as a volunteer in Catholic Charities of Brooklyn & Queens.

Here are just a few ways you can help:

  • Become a Big Brother/Big Sister
  • Mentor teenagers
  • Support staff at special events
  • Teach computer skills to seniors
  • Assist the developmentally disabled on group outings
  • Distribute meals to the homebound elderly
  • Be a friend to a mentally ill person
  • Assist the teacher in a child care
  • Provide clerical assistance to any program
  • Lead a class on your area of interest (art, dance, theater, cooking, etc.).

Catholic Charities utilizes VolunteerMatch.org to post and recruit for volunteer opportunities within our agency and programs.

Positions are posted both by program name and volunteer position. You can see all of the current opportunities for the entire agency by zip code and category, to help you focus your search for rewarding service experience. Enter VolunteerMatch.org by clicking on this link: www.volunteermatch.org

Please note that Catholic Charities periodically has needs for volunteers for special one-day events, such as:

  • Every Face Race
  • Bishop's Day
  • Holiday Meals on Wheels
  • Day of Recollection
  • The Irish Fair

Volunteer information for one-day events are posted on our web site, on VolunteerMatch.org and occasionally in The Tablet, our Diocesan newspaper. If you have questions or don't see a position matching your interests or locale, please contact our Office of Volunteer services at (718) 722-6066.
