CCBQ Volunteer, Pat Begeleus, Recognized by Catholic Charities USA
Congratulations to our volunteer, Pat Begeleus, who was honorably mentioned by Catholic Charities USA in their search for the National Volunteer of the Year for her hard work and dedication at our Queens Community Center. Pat’s relationship with CCBQ began as a client a few years ago. Grateful for the help she received, Pat decided to volunteer at the center.
Over the last three years, she has supported the center by assisting in a variety of tasks. She has done everything from cataloging inventory, working with databases, helping in the food pantry, advocating during legislative visits, and marching at rallies to fight for justice. She is always energetic while working and brings cheerfulness to the whole staff. Coworkers admire Pat for her sincere generosity as demonstrated over Thanksgiving when the community center rewarded her hard work with a Turkey and Pat invited all of the older adults in her residence to celebrate the holiday with her so they wouldn’t have to spend it alone. When Pat was offered a part-time position at one of our programs, her immediate concern was whether the schedule would allow her to continue volunteering atour center. Pat’s kindness and consistent devotion to helping those in need is truly deserving of this recognition.
