LAUNCHES NEWS MAGAZINE SHOW “Catholic Charities: In Focus”
Premieres April 8th
“Catholic Charities: In Focus” is a new TV show which
will be presented by Catholic Charities Brooklyn & Queens.
In a news magazine format, it will showcase the mission and work
of Catholic Charities and relate personal stories of individuals
who have been impacted by its services. A half-hour TV program
airing several times weekly, the show will premiere April 8th
on The Prayer Channel.
Communications expert and broadcast journalist, Gail Donovan
will be “In Focus” anchor. Gail is founder of Donovan
Communications, a public relations firm, and has several years’
experience as a reporter, editor and columnist. A resident of
Park Slope, Brooklyn, Gail is a member of numerous Brooklyn organizations
and has volunteered at various religious and community organizations.
“Catholic Charities: In Focus” will feature site
visits and personal stories, as well as feature in-studio guest
interviews. In short, it will place ‘in focus’ the
work of Catholic Charities in the Brooklyn and Queens communities.
The agency sponsors 170 programs and services for children and
youth, adults and seniors, the developmentally disabled, the mentally
ill and the isolated, and provides 3,000 units of affordable housing.
Producers of the show hope that the new format will not only
leave viewers informed but also inspired. “By highlighting
individual lives that have been transformed, we hope many will
be moved to support Catholic Charities in its mission to provide
services for the neediest in our communities,” says Jack
Boyle, Director of Development & Communications at Catholic
Charities and Executive Producer of the show.
The first show will include interviews with Robert Siebel, Executive
Director/CEO of Catholic Charities Brooklyn & Queens, and
Rev. Msgr. Alfred LoPinto, Vicar for Human Services of the Diocese
of Brooklyn. Msgr. LoPinto oversees Catholic Charities’
affordable housing affiliate, Progress of People’s (POP)
Development. Future shows include a site visit to a residence
for people with developmental disabilities.
