CELEBRATED ITS 15TH ANNIVERSARY
Catholic Charities Brooklyn & Queens SS. Joachim & Anne
Residence recently held a Gala Dinner to celebrate its 15th Anniversary.
Jim Ryan of CBS News This Morning was the Master of Ceremonies.
Most Reverend Joseph M. Sullivan, Retired Bishop of Brooklyn,
gave the opening prayer and Reverend Alfred P. LoPinto, Vicar
for Human Services, gave the closing prayer. Executive Director/CEO
of Catholic Charities Robert Siebel presented an award to Mr.
Thomas A. DeStefano, Board member of SS. Joachim & Anne Residence
and former Executive Director/CEO of Catholic Charities, for creating
the dream and providing the inspiration that became SS. Joachim
& Anne Residence. Staff, residents, family and friends were
in attendance.
SS. Joachim & Anne Residence is a 200 bed non-profit, non-sectarian
health care facility for elderly who require 24-hour nursing care
that overlooks the Atlantic Ocean in historic Coney Island, Brooklyn.
The home provides residents the opportunities to use their creative
gifts and social skills in ways that help them discover there
remains much meaning and purpose in their life despite the limitations
of age and illness. Services include rehabilitation, social work,
medical and medical specialties, specialized diet, recreation
and pastoral care.
