CATHOLIC CHARITIES BROOKLYN & QUEENS
PARTNER-TO-PARTNER PROGRAM
AT THE
NARROW SENIOR CENTER

Catholic Charities Brooklyn & Queens has implemented an Asian Partner-to-Partner Program at the Narrows Senior Center in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, which has a large Asian population. Coordinated by Elizabeth Winslow of the Department for the Aging, the program aims to partner seniors with others who speak the same language and share similar life experiences. Partner-to-Partner trains senior volunteers to be receptive listeners for their peers and help make it easier for them to get the services they need. As aging and life issues are raised, these trained senior partners are able to understand and, when requested, advise or provide referral information by working closely with the Center’s social worker.

The Catholic Charities Brooklyn & Queens Narrows Senior Center provides seniors age 60 and over with hot lunch as well as nutritional, educational, recreational, health, social service and intergenerational programs.
